Review of Fast & Furious (2009) by Jarrett M — 06 Nov 2011
Well, after a few years to let the memory of the third film fade (and I'm guessing the careers of both Diesel and Walker) and along comes the fourth film. And to be perfectly honestly, I don't care why everyone came back.
I'm just damn glad they did. This movie fires on all cylinders, providing a wild ride due to fantastic action sequences, but also giving franchise favorite characters more depth and heart than they've had before.
The story is sufficient for the purpose of the film; nothing exciting, but this film probably has the tightest script of any of the movies. The principle cast does a great job bringing their familiar characters back to life, but some of the supporting characters could have been a bit better.
It doesn't hurt that it must have been a blast for the cast to be back together and it seems like from their performances that it was a total blast. The film moves along at a good pace and maintains a good balance between the action and the more dramatic scenes.
My biggest problem is that I wish that they would stop wrecking Dom's Charger in every film it appears in. Other than that, I loved this movie. An awesome breath of fresh air to a franchise that needed one.
