Review of Farewell My Concubine (1993) by Sam L — 23 Feb 2008
I have never been a big fan of movies like this where things move pretty slowly. However, after ten mins, I was drawn into it completely. The costumes were so extravagant and scenes were shot so well you almost feel like the movie is one sorrowfuly beautifull painting.
Leslie Cheung was so convincing I seriously could almost feel his pain. (And remember, I can't stand slow and heavy storylines!) Almost can't believe this was directed by the same guy who did the silly piece of crap " The Promise" (WU QI in mandarin). Watch this on a quite night when you dont have much on your mind. It might get a little depressing, but it's a nice difference for a change.
