Review of Far from the Madding Crowd (2015) by James A — 03 May 2015
It falls down in that the main flaw of Bathsheba, and a theme throughout the book and 1987 film, her vanity is missing. The lack of this facet of her character makes her sending of the Valentine to Boldwood and falling for (a puny/pasty and paltry version of) Troy unbelievable, especially in the break neck pace it hurtles along at to condense it two hours, sadly.
