Review of Far from the Madding Crowd (2015) by Vanna L — 27 Mar 2015
Saw it in a screening. It was perfection. Bathsheba is actually a little bit likable in this version. The movie stays pretty close to the book, but definitely has its flavors, layers and textures. Gabriel Oak was wonderful.
Patience and loyalty win the day! Boltwood seem to get a lot of laughs from the other movie goers. I think it was partly due to the need for a laugh and partly due to the perfect timing of his lines and facial expressions.
Highly recommend this move. Wonderful to see something with character development!
