Review of Far from the Madding Crowd (2015) by Barry T — 03 May 2015
Solid and often visually ambitious take on Hardy's classic. Heartfelt and regularly nuanced, also features a wonderful duo of performances from Mulligan and Sheen. Ubiquitous Matthias Schoenaerts is less impressive as he (unsuccessfully) grapples with a dodgy British accent and is thus unable to settle into the role.
On the whole, better than expected.
