Review of Far from the Madding Crowd (2015) by Leena L — 15 Jun 2015
Dorset landscape is just breathtaking. Carey Mulligan as Bathsheba is perky, bullheaded, confused and pretty. Matthias Schoenaerts starts growing on me, having now seen three films with him within a month.
A lot of bulk had he built for this, in comparison to the previous escapades. His intense stare works the best in this one. so far. And Thomas Vinterberg, so different from Hunt and the horrible Submarino, yet oddly entertaining, in the victorian kind of decentness.
kind of. Yet, it did not make me weep. hence only 3 stars.
