A perfect homage to and reinvention of the movie melodrama, not funny very often because there is such heartbreak in the material. The world Haynes re-creates in this movie is so vivid and true to period that when Dennis Quaid uttered the word 'fuck' the first time, I actually felt something akin to shock.
Profoundly moving performances, technically faultless.
