Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Darryl J — 16 Dec 2007
Todd Haynes directs in extreme colors. The whole movie had a distinct shade of color in every scene. The characters clothes even matched the color schemes.
This movie feels like it was pulled out from the 50's. From the opening credits to the end, everything was exactly like the time period.
However, the story wasn't so 50's. It told a tale of forbidden love in two different instances. It certainly happened a lot but it would have never been made back then.
The acting was amazing. I always expect great things from Julianne Moore and she did deliver but I was really impressed with Dennis Quaid. I never thought of him as a great actor or even good for that matter but that all changed when I saw this. He needs to be in more films that actually use his amazing acting skills.
