Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Amber S — 03 Apr 2008
In truth, I expected to hate this; I really didn't think it would live up to Sirk's classic "All That Heaven Allows," which I quite liked. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that Haynes was able to recreate Sirk's aesthetic style while highlighting social issues that are poignant and relevant for contemporary viewers.
As far as the acting is concerned, some of the scenes between Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid are breathtaking.
