Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Andrew E — 25 Oct 2008
One of the best films of the decade. Hanyes is known for experimenting with different genres and techniques (see "I'm Not There") but here he just takes that strategy to a whole new level with this beautiful but devastating portrayal of a woman dealing with deceit and public disapproval. Moore is one of the best and most versatile actresses in her generation, and this film is her best work.
Altogether it's quiet, sad, and painfully beautiful.
