Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Jimmy M — 16 Nov 2008
Todd Haynes is one of the most ambitious filmmakers today and Far From Heaven is the pinnacle of his accomplishments. The film, a throwback to 50s melodrama, successfully tells a story within the constricting boundaries and out of date ideologies that were typical of films of its time.
Genius stuff. And what can be said about the incomparable Julianne Moore, who can articulate her broken heart with a smile on her face. By far, the best actress working today.
