Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Timmy G — 10 Jan 2010
Find a more gripping and wrenching display of love in the 50's and I will here and now relinquish my faux movie critic badge. The first movie to shed light on the homosexual developing in the perfect, prim, and proper decade of the 50's.
...was in fact an accurate insight. The distain for oneself, the radical therapies, and the silence....the silence was as deafening as the reality. And no scene was this more true, than the scene in which Frank told Cathy that he was leaving her for another man.
And as annihilation sets in...she's still the poised housewife that she identifies with. All the wrenching agony can be seen only through the eyes, the honest window to the passionate mind. It may not work out for everyone.
...but that's the reality that subtely stiches the story together.
