Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Mats C — 31 Mar 2013
Now I know where the Bree Van de Kamp character from the TV series Desperate Housewives was inspired from. Only now, after beholding the well-written, carefully restrained Cathy Whitaker role, did I realize Bree's a campy version of the domestic goddess who, after impressive catering exhibitions, impeccably planned parties, and up-keeping the poster well-mannered family image, actually hides the deepest, darkest secrets.
'50s, through and through, on its surface, but very modern in its core. That seems to be the project and it was well taken care of. It was spotless in its dimensions: but could it have been more?
