Review of Fantastic Voyage (1966) by Erik W — 17 Apr 2011
I read somewhere that Stanley Kubrick didn't this movie. Can't understand why but I guess it wasn't weird enough for him.
This is a great visual movie and a pretty imaginative piece of work. The cast is impressive as well are the lavish sets and special effects that depict the interspace of the human body. The plot is pretty good except that I think they're are a few moments that I believe weren't nessesary. Composer Leonard Rosenman's score moves the movie right along underscoring the tense moments in the film. From the looks of the film, it couldn't have been easy to make, although today it wouldn't be any problem at all since film makers today basically let computers do all their work for them anyway.
I highly recommend this movie for anybody who likes sci-fi flicks and loves a good visual movie. Like another reviewer here said, turn your brain off as soon as you here the 20th Century Fox theme. Otherwise you'll scratch you head and give yourself a headache.
