Review of Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) by Charlie C — 23 Feb 2014
Fantastic Mr. Fox is absolutely a marvelous film. I've always been quite fond of Wes Anderson and this film just oozes with his style while still managing to successfully bring a beloved children's tale to vivid and colorful life.
This is also, far and away, one of his funniest films. Some might argue that Rushmore holds that title, but I disagree. It's chock full of great character moments and some very funny one-liners, all while managing to keep a grip on the story mechanics and the actual reality of it all.
My only complaint, as if there could be any, is that it all goes by so fast and feels too short. Nonetheless, it's enjoyable, and should please most people wanting to have a fairly simple story told to them with great characters and dialogue, not to mention some of the finest stop-motion animation of recent memory.
I highly recommend it.
