Review of Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) by Ryan V — 24 Apr 2012
Mr. Fox (George Clooney) is a former chicken thief who is forced to retire once he has a child (Jason Schwartzman). Unfortunately, Mr. Fox tries to get back into the game and inspires the sadistic ire of some vengeful farmers.
Although loosely derived from Roald Dahl's spare novel, Fantastic Mr. Fox is much more reflective of the style exhibited by director Wes Anderson. It is, however, a funny and rewatchable movie featuring wry dialogue, great characterization, keen animation, and swell voice acting from Clooney, Schwartzman, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Michael Gambon, Eric Anderson, Owen Wilson, Willem Dafoe, and Jarvis Cocker.
