Some voices don't match characters too well, and the dancing's kind of random. But it's a visual delight with sharp framing & the beautifully old-fashioned style. The script shows Roald Dahl's tale with some remarkable depth, easy humour and multiple themes that hide the sad lack of emotional connection, and the two leads George Clooney & Meryl Streep work breathlessly with their characters.
