Review of Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) by Derek T — 09 Dec 2012
The Fantastic Mr. Fox seems like a children's movie, but there's so much more to it beneath the surface (pun intended). Not only does Anderson capture the feel of Dahl's story, but he manages to capture his own signature style in a completely new medium without making it overwhelmingly so.
The script captures the whimsy of both Dahl and Anderson, the dialogue is witty and snappy, and the characters are well-rounded and well-formed. The movie itself is visually striking, and it presents one of the more significant achievements in animation in the past decade - a nice contrast to all of the CGI movies being released.
In short, this movie is cussing hilarious, and I love the cuss out of it.
