Review of Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) by Dillinger P — 19 Mar 2014

This animated outing by Wes Anderson is without a doubt one of the best animated films I have seen in a very, very long time. It's full of life, fun, intricacies that just blow your mind. Whats even more amazing is that even though this is an animated outing, you genuinly feel like your there, with the cinematography being constantly on the move, follwing the insane plots/manuevers that Mr Fox gets us into, its a work of genius.

Mr and Mrs Fox, played by Clooney and Streep (Wonderfully I might add), spend their time hunting down chickens from farms and doing what foxes do. One day while on the steal, Mrs Fox confesses to Mr Fox she is pregnant and that this way of life must stop.

Flash forward 12 years later, they have a kid called Ash, Mr Fox is a coloumist and everything seems hunky dory. However discontent with his lack of wealth and letting his nature take over, Mr fox decides to hatch a plan to raid three different farms, the results, not only destroy the animal community but also put Mr Foxes life and family at risk.

The animation is so fresh to see in this day and age, this is a dying form and its so good to see it being put to good use here. The voice acting is astounding and hilarious, for the first time in an age Clooney gives a performance we were so used to from yesteryear.

The usual people show up in smaller roles, trade mark Murray, but its absolutley fine and none jarring due to the animated nature. Willem DaFoe's rat however is just the pinncacle of hillarity at one point during the film, I wont spoil.

I genuinley dont have a single bad word to say against this movie apart from its seems about 5 minutes to long, that however is barely a gripe. Excellent piece of cinema and animation, forget your toy stories and your Up!'s this, my friends, is where the magic is at.
