Review of Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) by Lewis E — 26 Dec 2015
Peeked into the foxhole and found myself a little hidden gem here. There are a fair share of silly jokes which is right up my alley while even some of the not-so-hilarious content seems funnier due to the well executed quick paced dialogue from the voice actors. The story itself moves at the same quick speed as well which works great since there is practically no useless filler material, making it very hard for anyone to lose interest. They often use different camera angles for the escape/rescue scenes which adds another dimension to the storytelling while also invoking a few more laughs. Much like Pingu (anyone remember that?) or Robot Chicken (anyone heard of that?), 'Fantastic Mr Fox' uses stop-motion animation. This distinguishes it from what has become your bog standard cartoon animations of late, allowing it to implement its own unique styles of visual humour.
You may be sick of hearing them giving birth in your garden 4 times a week or leaving a mess on the street after rummaging the bins for your fried chicken leftovers but this is one fox that should leave you happy.
