Review of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) by Elcid — 16 Jun 2007
I really don't know what people look for anymore in a superhero special effects movie. This movie blew me away, despite the presence of a lot of weaknesses. The entire presence of the Silver Surfer, and the effects around him, brought this movie to an entirely different level.
There have been no good space movies in recent memory, and this was as close as we've gotten. And to be honest, this was really a movie about the Surfer, and the FF were secondary players -- which is as it should be, given that the FF is weakly done here.
That said, they did a very good job, not a great job. I will definitely be seeing this movie again on the big screen, and buying the DVD when it comes out. How some critics seem to not comprehend the ending is utterly beyond me, it's so simple it's child's play.
