Review of Fantastic Four (2005) by Rox22 — 19 Apr 2015
To be fair, I feel this movie isn't as bad as many make ir out to be. The Fantastiv is a great comic, but it is one of those comics that simply only works on paper (or digital page.).
The effects are pretty good and I thought the casting was generally good all round. Alba may not be a perfect visual depiction of Sue Storm, but I thought she did OK.
My main gripe with this movie is the writing.OMG, could they messed Dr Doom up any more! Granted, McMahon is doing his best with what he's been given, it still isn't enough to hide the butchering his character underwent in the writers script. For shame Mark Frost and Michael France!
Plot is also incredibly underwhelming. Granted, it does work very well as a F4 origin story, a shame it didn't do much else.
Overall:
Fantastic 4 is a decent, but flat, origin story. It doesn't do too much wrong, but fails to be interesting, aside from a few moments here and there. Worth a watch, but only as a rental.
