Review of Fantastic Four (2005) by Henry P — 11 Apr 2014
Marvel's first "family" comes to the big screen in cosmic proportions of Fantastic. We meet the hot-head, Johnny Storm, AKA the Human Torch, his sister Sue, AKA the Invisible Woman, her ex Dr.
Reed Richards, AKA Mr. Fantastic, and his body guard/friend Ben Grimm, AKA The Thing. When they go into the Von Doom space station with Sue's boss/boyfriend Victor Von Doom, they're exposed to cosmic rays that change them 4ever (See what I did there?).
Their powers represented them in some way. There are a few plot holes/unanswered questions, and it moves somewhat slowly, since this is an origin story, and only really picks up in the last half hour or so.
The humor mixed in works well, and the songs used at some parts help add to the emotion. John Ottman does an adequate job with the soundtrack for other scenes, carrying it along. It is overall, a great movie with some issues the sequel can probably resolve.
