Review of Fantastic Four (2005) by First L — 13 Apr 2013
The Fantastic Four was one of the best superhero comic books made during much of its decades-long run. During the 1960s, when most comic book characters (especially superheroes) were 2-dimensional and interchangeable, the Fantastic Four were fully realized people with distinct personalities that had depth and layers. They formed an interdependent family with more problems than solutions. This type of work was unheard of in comic books at that time.
Fast forward forty years to 2005. The movie, Fantastic Four, directed by Tim Story, had a simplistic story, a truly silly, comic book plot peopled by 2-dimensional characters that no one could care about. To date, the only movie that has captured the essence of the Fantastic Four was a little film by Pixar called "The Incredibles".
