Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Pavle C — 21 Nov 2018
This movie is gorgeous to look at while director Yates keeps things in a welcoming darker mode. Its main flaw comes from Rowling who just can't keep herself contained as a screenwriter, so FB2 often feels like it has one too many stories and subplots.
But still there is so much to appreciate here and although FB2 will mostly be remembered as a bridge that sets foundations for next installments, you simply cannot ignore Depp's work as Grindelwald.
He is cold, restrained, yet charismatic and persuasive & that one scene where he reveals his true self makes me eager to see what else he's got in store with this character. 4/5.
