Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Steffi E — 28 Nov 2018
I had such high hopes that my disappointment was all the higher. I was hoping to get interesting moments with Dumbledore. But barely saw him. The storyline felt torn apart and sewn back together. The reveal at the end makes no fucking sense in any way and I don't like that this is where the movie leaves us.
The only thing I loved in this movie were once again the beasts. Everyone loves the niftier babies and I also liked the big cat lion thing. But after the explicit mention that Newt takes the nifflers with him I was disappointed again that they never reappeared.
The characters I came to love are unrecognizable. I hated Queenie in this one so much and Newt and Tinas "misunderstanding" was just plain dumb. It should have been easily discussed and resolved but that was not possible for them apparently.
All in all this felt like a unnecessary in between movie that made me hate characters I thought I loved.
