Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Kevin K — 17 Nov 2018
More like The Crimes of J.K. Rowling. She did both the script and screenplay for this movie...perhaps thatâ(TM)s why itâ(TM)s so terrible. Hard to watch and hard to follow. The movie immediately undoes major plot points from the previous one.
..which makes it feel like an unplanned sequel...but how could it be if Rowling wrote both movies? None of the characters are likable...even Newt Scamander. Iâ(TM)ve heard a lot of love for this character, but I imagine itâ(TM)s from preteen girls who just like the idea of a foppish sensitive type that loves animals.
In reality heâ(TM)s just bland as hell, no real personality to speak of. The reason he even gets embroiled in this movieâ(TM)s plot is thin as hell...Dumbledore literally says he knows heâ(TM)ll do it because âitâ(TM)s the right thing to doâ?? Uh, what? Newt has shown us one thing.
..that he loves animals...never has he shown us that he has a profound sense of justice. Iâ(TM)ve never a shittier jumpstart to a âheroâ(TM)s journeyâ? in my life. Beyond Newt none of the characters are very likable.
..I never really foubd myself invested. Everything is muddy...the plot...the screenplay. Itâ(TM)s ao ibcredibly bad I could go on for 1,000 more words but lets just say this...itâ(TM)s bad. Really bad.
