Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Sirena K — 19 Nov 2018
Somehow I can't shake the feeling that I just watched the latest Star Wars movie over again, but dressed up to be in the Harry Potter series. This felt like a cash-grab film that tried to cram the movie so full of cameos and easter eggs for long-time fans that it ceased to make sense.
It was filled with stupid, complicated plot twists, unnecessary characters, and "groundbreaking" revelations that undermine the rest of the Harry Potter series. I understand this is a separate series, but it has so many connections to Harry Potter that they can no longer be held apart.
As a long-time fan, this felt like a stab to the heart and a grab for my wallet.
