Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Admiral N — 19 Nov 2018
As a Potterhead since the first book was published I did very much like this movie. I can kinda see where the bad critics are coming from, with The Crimes of Grindelwald being very exposition-heavy and primarily building up for the next three movies but I really don't see that as a bad thing when you keep the whole thing in mind. And even if you just see it as a movie it was enjoyable for all the (not so invested) people I watched it with. The cast does great - I did probably expect even more from Grindelwald after the superb final Trailer but I still think he is spot on and I'm so happy they didn't switch him because of some riddiculousness in his private life which has nothing to do with his work at all.
I have to admit, I'm very curious about the explanation of a certain identity(-claim) and if this professor really was OUR Minerva McGonagall I think that was a pretty stupid idea to include her and destroy the timeline but for now I have faith in Rowling to deliver a satisfying explanation for everything and am already looking forward to the third installment 2020.
