Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Ana D — 16 Nov 2018
Great movie with a really nice twist at the end. You'd have to be a hardcore fan and read the books to get it all (the references to previously introduced characters and concepts) but if you knew your stuff you'd find the film enjoyable and rich (the plot had some minor incoherencies, but they can be easily fixed in future sequels). The CGI looked AMAZING. The special effects have certainly come a long way from the Harry Potter series and were even better than they were in the previous Fantastic Beasts installment. Johnny Dept really did a great job with Grindewal and Jude Law's Dumbledore was captivating. Even without his characteristic beard and half-moon spectacles he felt like the same wise and powerful Dumbledore we all know and love.
The movie (as a whole) felt to me just like reading a book - deeply entrancing plot lines and characters with compelling stories.
If you're a die-hard HP fan this is THE movie for you.
