Review of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) by Jin T — 20 Jun 2018
Finally got around to this. I rewatched all the Harry Potter movies. Not to get ready for this and I know, it's a prequel. But I just felt like watching all the Harry Potter movies. Then I wanted more of magic stuff. So Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them would help my fix on watching more wand wrist flicking action and more wonderful moments you get to feel. Just like you do when you watch the Harry Potter movies.
First and foremost, this is not a Harry Potter film. But it does set in the universe of Harry Potter films. The story is quite fast paced and it has long moments that explored more with its movie's title: Fantastic Beasts. Which we do literally see a handful of fantastic, magical beasts. We get to see Newt Scamander. One's name that was mentioned in a Harry Potter movie. He is one of your typical character where he loves and tends to those fantastic beasts. Eddie Redmayne seems to be perfect for the role and he is for sure. I was surprised that Colin Farrell was in this movie. Ezra Miller a.k.a. The Flash is in this one as well and I like his performance. Very cool. What I'm most surprised and I still am even if the movie came out years ago, is Johnny Depp. Since we all know what character he's playing, I am very looking forward to his performance in The Crimes of Gindelwald.
It was a fun movie and despite of its pace and prolonged ridiculousness of showcasing the shenanigans from the beasts, it is actually a re-watchable movie. Like its series counterpart which is the Harry Potter movies, I hope the future movies are as enjoyable as when Harry Potter dominated the cinemas before.
