Review of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) by Darlene M — 29 May 2017
From the moment we meet Newt hunched over his briefcase/ magical habitat I knew I would love this movie. The awkward magi-zoologist is so endearingly sweet with his creatures that this fellow animal-lover & Hufflepuff could not stop smiling.
The American wizarding world is just as breathtakingly beautiful as Harry Potter's, but it's hardly a "spin-off" -- it's the continuation of the gloriously long and interwoven tales in Jo Rowling's mind.
It's not a perfect movie, but a perfectly realized story from what was once simply a Hogwarts textbook. The potential connection of obscurials to Dumbledore's family is almost more than this nerd can handle!
