Review of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) by Daryl K — 16 Jun 2017
Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander alone is enough to recommend this movie, but on top of that is a competently made spin off film of a beloved franchise that knows it doesn't need to be restricted by the original.
Instead it tells a fun and fairly thrilling story through entertaining characters with a great villainous performance by Colin Farrell, and excellent world building. 'Fantastic' cinematography and a magical score ties this together with a bow on top.
Where the movie falls short lies in the love interest character not being particularly interesting and the story tends to be a little hard to follow at times. If this film is anything to go by, Warner Bros.
should keep an eye on Scamander, as he could breathe some much needed life into Hollywood.
