Review of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) by Cassidy W — 03 Mar 2017
Fantastic Creations.
Fantastic Beasts is another addition to JK Rowling's Harry Potter world of wizards and magical twirling wonds. It is a well thought out movie to one of the world's most rich authors with the world's most best selling books/series. Now after years of the Famous Harry Potter's ending, Rowling comes up with another idea to present the wizarding world. This has brought about much anticipation from all Harry Potter fans.
Directed by David Yates, the story is set in the United States of America (New York) back in the 1920's. People with no magic are called no Majs (or Muggles for Harry Potter's London world) and are persecuted by a church leader in the town, so wizards are careful to stay low.
The new star, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) is a shy and awkward young wizard coming from London into the US with a briefcase full of creatures he has collected and continues to try to study. He gets caught in his trek, getting himself into some tricky situations when creatures start escaping from his brief case.
A no Maj, Jacob Kowalski, gets caught up in Newt's troubles and creatures along with Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) who comes across Newt's presence and attempts to enforce America's magical congress rules on him while also getting her sister, Queenie (Alison Sudol) involved.
All these actors/actresses (and many other hollywood stars) come together to make a film that is hard to resist when it has a whole series to go off of. The movie is set in sort of a prequel way to the Harry Potter series which only makes it more attractive where new plots and twists are bound to make watchers want more from the wizard world. Yet, it is intriguing and new enough to make others who have not experienced much of Harry Potter enjoyable. They are introduced to a whole new world and do not have to know too much of the background of Harry Potter to understand what is going on because of its good introduction and explanation of how the witches and wizards work.
This movie keeps watchers on their toes and makes for a surprising and interesting new series.
