Review of Fantasia (2015) by Ernest C — 27 Mar 2015
The technical and cultural achievements of this animation milestone cannot be overstated. It may not seem like it now, but this film was insistently bold in the new direction it sought to take animation.
While I personally prefer non-programme music generally not to be set to animation or story, it here was managed with such skill and flair. That the iconic The Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence continues to be recognised today is a testament to the legacy of the film.
And this is before one realises that Leopold Stokowski himself conducted the orchestra.
