Review of Fantasia (2004) by Shannon M — 25 Dec 2010
This is an absolutely glorious work of art. While I'm sad to say that there will probably never be another animated film that captures abstract beauty quite like the original Fantasia, this is also a testament to its greatness. A nigh untouchable work.
There may be some nostalgic bias playing in here as this was probably among the first Disney movies I ever saw, but its power is timeless and yet truly grows with you. I view Fantasia quite differently now as an adult than when I was a child, but both experiences are equally enchanting (the adult experience arguably moreso--Ave Maria honestly had me in tears).
