Review of Fantasia (2004) by Voo B — 01 Jan 2011
Having re-watched this film for the first time in at least ten years, I feel the need to change my review of it.
Fantasia was one of Walt Disney's first animated features. It's wonderful from beginning to end, and it really is poetic. There isn't a running story, but every segment is an experience. My personally favorites are "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and "Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria".
The music is great, and the animation is lovely. It's where Mickey Mouse earned his magician outfit. Also, for me this film is nostalgic bliss. It might have lost money initially, and while I understand why some may not like it, I truly believe this is Disney's finest work.
