Review of Fantasia (2004) by William M — 11 Mar 2011
Although this one is truly dated, as it is copyrighted from 1940, this is something still to enjoy from a bygone era. I guess for me, I can't recall when I last saw this movie so seeing it tonight was something different as I guess I had some different ideas of how it might have turned out. I saw "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" recently and they talked about the apprentice scene in this movie which is why I sought this out to watch.
The easiest way to describe this film is that it is an orchestra that plays classical music and the sounds are interpreted through animation. And the Mickey Mouse scene as the apprentice is only a small part of the movie, although it is still cute. :) And when I referred to this movie from a bygone era, I meant a time of innocence. And yeah, some of the animated dances were kinda cute to see. :) And as I have Fantasia 2000, I'll have to check that one out at a later time. And I think I should add that the movie is divided up into sections, so it isn't all about one part in particular but many parts and different musical compositions. But the music is still nice to listen to.
