Review of Fanny and Alexander (1982) by Arianna B — 01 Jan 2011
It took 54 minutes before something really happened. That was a bit too much, although it was a beautiful depiction of a typical swedish family life in the beginning of last century.
If it would not be for that incredibly slow beginning, the movie would be a masterpiece: brilliant acting, a symbolic story, nice pictures and director choices. It is a pity that the version that we watched had some scenes cut, but maybe the magic behind it it has remained intact nevertheless.
