Review of Family Plot (1976) by Luca V — 26 Jul 2008
I thought Alfred Hitchcock during his last days was totally fucked up. No, I was wrong, this film is a very good one, and also it is a novelty compared to the old Hitchcock movies. I mean, the old Alfie has changed his style, or he has changed the subject. In this domain he is the opposite of Frank Capra who shoot always the same film.
There are two wretched couples. The first are just little swindler, the woman, Madame Blanche pretends to be a Medium, the guy is a taxi driver who don t pretend to be R. De Niro, he plays the part of a lawyer used to smoke pipe.
The other couple, the unpleasant one, is made up of a jeweller and a beautiful woman who helps him in the shady activity of Kidnapping. They ask big diamonds as a ransom.
Madame Blanche needs the 10.000 dollars reward that a rich woman offers for those who find her nephew. Right, this nephew was the son of the sin for the sister of the rich woman. Anyway, he was adopted and he killed his adoptive parents. Cool, he should have to kill his aunt. This man is the jeweller - kidnapper.
There is action, some funny action made by the bizarre couple Blanche+Pipesmoker.
Yes, this is a good movie, very 70ies. A sort of classy Duke of Hazzard .
