Review of Family Plot (1976) by Byron B — 01 Nov 2008
Hitchcock's final film is almost entirely devoid of either his visual or narrative trademarks. It's certainly not a bad film; especially when you consider that Hitch was by then in his mid-70s and suffering from declining health; but it feels very much a product of its time and I think it would have been forgotten completely if it had not been directed by Hitch and written by Ernest Lehman.
But the cast are likable and the story is interesting enough; it's by no means a classic but would be satisfactory viewing if you happened to catch it on tv one Sunday afternoon.
