I don't know the theatrical version of Fame, but I think this movie made it off as a great story on film. It allowed room in the story, was able to be an location and it had none of those locker-room-break-into-stupid-songs-for-no-reason effects.
I didn't like all the actors and that reduced the stars, but as a story and film it was a nice concept! I was taken in and I liked it.
