Review of Fame (2009) by Cat W — 12 Aug 2009
There would be a higher rating if the story was a little more focused and if there was more character development--the characters have beginnings, middles, OR ends, never all three. I guess the style was going for a day-in-the-life type thing (or more accurately, 4-years-in-the-life), which it accomplished, but I was yearning for a pay-off at the end.
I also find it funny that today this is remembered as an Irene Cara vehicle (damn, that song is good!), but when you look at the actual amount of screen time she has, that's not quite accurate. For all the color and diversity in the film, the most screen time goes to *shocker* the 3 white characters (Doris, Bruno, and Montgomery).
Go figure.
