Review of Fame (2009) by Janet H — 11 Sep 2009
Fame is a somewhat fragmented film in parts, but overall, it's another great effort from Director Allen Parker.
Of course, everyone remembers the famous theme song, sung by Irene Cara (Who went on to do the theme song for "FlashDance" as well). However, few remember there were a few other songs in this film as well. Aside from Cara's "On My Own", and the finale song, the other songs kind of get in the way of the story.
But, this film is held together by great performances, and really well-written emotional material, which makes you really feel for the kids of this school. This is the kind of movie that takes a long, hard look at what it means to really shoot for the stars. It tells you all the things that American Idol and High School Musical are afraid to.
