Once they get past the audtions (where it's no surprise at all who's going to get in) the rest of the film is comprised solely of a montage of the students having temper tantrums, falling in love, discovering the darker side of "fame" and coming to realise that monkeys grow on trees or something.
There's no plot and the film is set over four years but the characters barely change in this time. Then they all get together and sing at the end.
