Review of Fame (2009) by Patrick S — 26 Sep 2009
In awareness of the remake, I decided to see this. I might lose all of my manliness points but I did enjoy this quite a bit in all of it's musical theater glory. I didn't even hate the fact that there was spontaneous musical numbers in it, I love it all. But I did get the feeling that if the movie was 20, 30 minutes longer to flesh out the characters and situations this might have been a genuine American classic instead of being dismissed as "That movie where a bunch of idiots dance in the street with that song.".
Also, seeing Paul McCrane aka Emil from Robocop or Graem Bauer from 24 in this...I kept expecting him to either kill some people, mastermind a terrorist attack or get hit with toxic waste and melt. Ah well, what could've been.
