Review of Fame (1936) by Brad G — 27 Apr 2008
I've watched several bad 80's movies in recent times that were supposed to be good (Caddyshack, Weird Science), but this one sustained my interest due to some great acting performances and smart directing that was not "in your face.
" It tells the story of high school students in the Performing Arts school in NYC, following several different stories along the way. It leaves a few characters (like Bruno) in the lurch and starts focusing on the Doris/Monty/Ralph trio near the end instead, but somehow this movie worked for me in the end.
Definitely tinged with that 80's mix of grittiness and optimism.
