Review of Falling Down (1993) by Richard C — 27 Jun 2009
A reminder that Joel Schumacher can do some great things, I love Phone Booth and Falling Down really carries a similar character story that involves two distinctly opposed men trying to make sense of the world.
Michael Douglas is superb in this role and really brings great conviction to his character. However the film takes you down a slippery moral slope as D-Fens starts out by being the victim and doing things we all secretly would like to do, but his morality takes a turn further in as you realise he really is quite insane.
But what we have here is a great story that takes takes the time to invest in its characters and convince you that they are doing things for the reasons they believe are right. A great movie, see it.
