Review of Falling Down (1993) by Stephen C — 20 Sep 2009
Normally one would advise staying well away from anything that Joel Schumacer puts his name to, but this along perhaps with Phone Booth are films that are worth watching.
The 2 main reasons this film is good is Robert Duvall and Michael Douglas.
As DFens Douglas turns in one of his best acting roles as a man whos has lost everything and just wants to go home.
Everything is placed in his way be it streetgangs,Neo Nazi store keepers and fast food resturants not serving breakfast.
Duvall has the less showy role but carries it well as a cop who is on to Douglas and his chain of events.
LA is made to look like a really shitty place to live and inbetween the violence there is some wonderful black humour.
A film with plenty going for it and much better than the usual Schumacer dross.
