Review of Falling Down (1993) by Nathan N — 03 Feb 2010
Falling Down has been on my radar for years and I'm glad I finally got around to seeing it. Douglas, who I'm not a huge fan of, delivers an intruiging performance that may well be his best but he is overshadowed by Duvall, a man among men.
But the real draw of Falling Down isn't the performances but its story. It's a great one. I do, however, feel like the film didn't exactly live up to its story, thanks, largly, to a script that's a little too cute and rife with silly juxtaposition.
In truth, this is more of a 3 1/2 but the story was just deeply entertaining. A west coast, early 90's God's Lonely Man-type story.
